Air conditioning price including installation: what it is made of
When the price of an air conditioner with installation is mentioned, few people imagine exactly the same thing. Sometimes only the unit price is meant, elsewhere only the technician's labour. In reality, the total price consists of four parts which together determine how much you will ultimately pay for a working air conditioner. The article breaks down each one and shows indicative price ranges.
Four components of the total price
The total price of an air conditioner including installation consists of four items: the unit itself, technician labour (installation), installation materials and refrigerant. Each varies depending on the specific job, unit capacity, pipe run length or installation complexity, so the exact price is always confirmed only after an on-site survey. However, you can get a general idea of the individual items right now.
Price of the unit itself
The price of an air conditioning unit depends on its capacity, brand and type, wall-mounted split, ceiling cassette or a more powerful outdoor unit for a multi-split system. We install units from leading global brands, specifically Daikin, Samsung, LG, Mitsubishi Electric, Panasonic, GREE and Toshiba, with prices varying between these brands and across different performance ranges. As a guide, unit prices on the market range from lower thousands of Kč for basic models to tens of thousands of Kč for more powerful or quieter versions. We always recommend the specific type and price based on a site survey so that the capacity matches the room area and orientation, avoiding unnecessary over- or under-sizing.
Installation price
Installation includes the technician's work, positioning of the indoor and outdoor units, routing of the lines, and connecting the entire system. Detailed description how Installation proceeds step by step. , are available in a separate article. Our indicative installation prices are as follows:
| Prostor | Unit output | Installation from |
|---|---|---|
| Apartment or small office, up to 40 m² | do 3,5 kW | 6 900 Kč |
| Medium-sized rooms, 40-80 m² | 3,5-5 kW | 8 900 Kč |
| Large spaces, offices, multi-split | depending on the project | individual offer |
The installation cost increases mainly with the length of the piping and the complexity of the installation. It differs for an apartment in a new build with a short run versus a panel block or a historic building with thicker walls.
Materials and refrigerant
Installation materials include refrigerant piping, power and communication cabling, mounting brackets for the outdoor unit, trunking or conduit to cover the runs and drain condensate. The longer the route between the indoor and outdoor units, the more material the installation consumes: the quantity of both materials and refrigerant also varies depending on whether the run stays within one floor or must cross multiple floors. All this is determined during the survey so that the price quote reflects reality. The final item is the refrigerant, for new units R32 is most commonly used, with which the refrigerant circuit is filled after installation in the precisely prescribed amount. Work with refrigerants may only be carried out by a technician holding a valid certification for working with F-gases.
Why quotes from different companies vary
When comparing quotes from different companies, check whether the price includes all four components or only some of them. A low installation price that does not state the cost of the unit, materials and refrigerant will not give you a realistic idea of the total costs, additional charges for longer piping, extra materials or top-up refrigerant often appear only during implementation. With us, you receive a quote where everything included in the price is clear from the start, and a fixed amount that does not change once approved. This is a simpler way to compare quotes and avoid unpleasant surprises at the end.
Approximate total price
When you add up the unit, installation, materials and refrigerant, the total price including installation for a smaller residential split system is approximately from 27 990 Kč. The installation alone, i.e. Just the technician's labour and installation materials without the unit, starts at 6 900 Kč according to the price list above. We will be happy to calculate the exact amount for your specific flat or house after a free survey, with no obligation and a fixed price in advance.
